Statistically, if you're a Christian man, you've struggled with pornography — and statistically, you've never told a single person. Today I want to talk about why that silence, not the struggle itself, is what's actually destroying you.

We've been told the answer is more willpower. Try harder. Pray harder. Feel guilty next time. But if that worked, you wouldn't still be stuck. A Barna study found nearly 7 out of 10 men sitting in church pews every Sunday are struggling with pornography — and many pastors are too. You are not alone, and willpower alone fails against secrecy every time.

In this video I break down:
✅ Why secrecy — not weakness — is why you keep losing this fight
✅ What 1 John 1:7 actually means for men stuck in this cycle
✅ The one move that changes the trajectory (it's not another promise to yourself)
✅ Why Romans 8:1 says there's no condemnation for you TODAY, not "once you're fixed"

I work at a company that exists to help men win this fight, and I've sat with more of these stories than almost anyone you know. Here's the pattern: the men who get free aren't the ones who feel the worst about it — they're the ones who stop hiding it the moment one person really knows.

This is part of an ongoing series on porn addiction, shame, and freedom for Christian men. Subscribe so you don't miss what's next.

Statistically, if you are a Christian man watching this, you've struggled with pornography and statistically you've never told a single person. Well, today I want to talk about why that silence, not the struggle itself, is what's actually destroying you. Here's what nobody says out loud in church. You can sit in the pew every Sunday morning, raise your hands during worship, lead your family in prayer at dinner, and still be carrying this completely alone. And I don't think that's because men don't care about holiness. I think you probably do. I think it's because we've been taught the wrong way to fix this problem. We've been told the answer is more willpower. Try harder, pray harder. Feel guilty your next time. If that actually worked, you wouldn't still be watching this video. Barna came out with the study a couple of years ago that stated nearly seven out of ten men who are sitting in pews every single Sunday are struggling with pornography. In fact, we know statistically that many pastors also struggle with this problem. You are not alone, and I will tell you, willpower alone fails against secrecy every single time. Not because you're weak, but because that's how secrecy is designed to work anyway. Done in the dark, unaccountable to anyone, will eventually win against a private promise to yourself. That is not spiritual failure. That's just how temptation operates. Scripture says

this plainly in 1 John 1:

7, it says, “Walk in the light as He is in the light, and we have fellowship with one another.” Fellowship-- being known, isn't a nice add-on to fighting this thing. It's actually the mechanism. So if you spent years trying to win this fight by yourself in silence and you keep losing, that's not proof there's something wrong with you or your faith. It's proof that you've been fighting this thing the one way that you can't win. I work at a company that exists entirely to help men win this fight. I've sat with more of these stories up close than almost anyone you know, probably more than most pastors. And here's the pattern that I keep seeing. The men who get free aren't the ones who feel the worst about it. They're the ones who stop hiding it the moment one other person knows. One other person really knows. Not just a vague hey, will you pray for me? The whole thing loses its power. Not instantly, not magically, but the trajectory changes completely. That means the real first step isn't another promise or resolution to yourself.

At 11:

00 at night, when you're alone with your phone, it's a text to one man that you trust tomorrow morning that says, I need to tell you something. That's it. That's the move that actually works. But here's what I want to really tell you before you go and do that. You are not first and foremost a man who struggles with pornography. That's not your identity. If you've believed that lie that this is just who you are now, that's actually the one thing that's keeping you stuck longer than the habit itself. Read Romans 8. Keep this tucked in your heart because it says, “There is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.” It doesn't say, not eventually, once you get this fixed. Now. Today, while you're still in it. You are a son that God is not ashamed of in the middle of a fight. He already has a way through. So here's what I'm asking. Don't leave this video guys. Don't leave this video and just feel convicted for the next 20 minutes and then go back to normal. Send the text. Tell one man that you trust. That's the whole assignment. And if this hit you differently than you expected, if you never heard someone talk about this topic without all the shame and the condemnation attached, I want you to know this is not the only conversation like this that we're going to have. There's more coming. Subscribe. Because I want you to hear what else I have to say about this important topic. Texting someone that you trust. I don't take that lightly. That is a huge step. But we see in Scripture all the time. Light in the dark and the light shines in the darkness and it flees. You are not alone. If seven out of ten guys are in the church and they're struggling with the same thing, the guy that you may be texting may also be relieved and say, dude, I've got the same issue. Take the first step. Text someone that you trust. Someone who is walking this road with you, who is in church silently struggling because they're not hard to find. Next video we're going to talk about the three things that you need to know in order to start down that path to freedom. Because I don't have to tell you that this addiction is destroying your life. It's just throwing who you are, what you think about yourself. It's destroying your relationship with your spouse. It's destroying your family, your relationship with your children, even with your friends. Some guys I've talked to have lost their jobs and their careers because of this addiction that has just gotten completely out of hand. You're not alone. Come back. Next time. We'll talk about those three things that you need to know in order to get on that path to freedom.
